The Costume Institute Gala at the Met 2011

The Costume Institute Gala at the Met welcomed its first guest in Anna Wintour as its focus was to pay homage to the late Alexander McQueen. Titled “Savage Beauty”, the evening’s red carpet saw designers and their muses revealing gorgeous and unique creations. With the finishing touches in place, as carefully orchestrated by the Vogue team, take a look at the locale and the must talked about fashions. I have to say, there are many beautiful designs, but Sarah Jessica Parker, Gisele Bundchen and Salma Hayek stand out for me – maybe it’s because they wore McQueen?

  5. Am I the only one confused by all the Tory Buch and then Kanye in TB??!! WT..??! I'm not WOWED by any of the McQueen red carpet looks except for SJP's. I want to like Beyonce's but I don't like the cutout in the front. But she is a pop star and I expect "over the top" but never "elegant" from them. Don't get we wrong I like Beyonce! I like how Madonna looks, even though it says Stella, it looks sort of McQueenish to me. I want to like Ricci's but to quote Tim Gunn "that's a lot of look." Whoever is in the background in the red looks pretty fabulous though.

  8. Stunning!

I can't stop thinking about the back of Beyonce's McQueen dress. Also, so bold of Iman to wear a gold sequin jumpsuit! I love the risk takers the best at the Met Costume Galas.

  11. Pret a Porter P - Thanks for the catch on Beyonce - I just updated the post. I truly do appreciate my readers sharing information that needs to be added or fixed. Thank you very much .:)

Cara - I know! I had no idea she had such amazing evening gowns. What I loved about the ones that walked the red carpet was that they still had the simplicity, but with a touch of elegance.

Lexi920 - I too love Iman's gumption to pull off the gold sequin pantsuit. I think it looks fantastic!
