Shorts have been trending during the past few summers as a way to blend style with function. So last weekend, since I was fortunate to find some time to stop into my favorite consignment shop in Portland, I decided to look for an extra pair of shorts for the summer. I beamed when I discovered a pair of Hugo Boss ‘Hanomi’ black stretch cotton shorts ($39 – I’m telling you, shop consignment first). Paired with black peep-toe pumps and a delicious blouse, a perfect summer date attire is complete. Of course, I had to continue perusing the store, because you never know what may be hidden on the racks just waiting for you to find it. Well, I found the perfect summer evening dress for my upcoming travels to Paris and London, so . . . I splurged.
Another piece of clothing that I love to wear during the summer months are boyfriend jeans – a little loose, sometimes worn or with tears, paired with heels and a sweater, the balance of sophistication and casual is ideal for cool summer evenings.
Along with ways to wear both of these styles, I’ve also included in this week’s Style Inspiration a few other images that I thought you might enjoy. You will notice that fashion blogger Hedvig Opshaug appears three different times, but I couldn’t help including her as her style never ceases to inspire me. Anyway, have a lovely Thursday everyone and enjoy the journey of becoming your own best stylist.

ReplyDeleteHi Shannon
ReplyDeleteI love your blog and your post. I was just wandering what kind of books you would recommend for my teenage girl who is 13 getting to 14.( I would also love if there would be a few classics )
Anonymous - Being a American Literature HS English teacher, my list will probably only include classics, but I'll try to find a few contemporary titles as well ;), but here we go: To Kill a Mockingbird (one of my favorites as the protagonist is a young girl with gumption and innocence who seeks the truth), Fahrenheit 451 (my preference does not lean toward sci-fi, but I surprisingly loved this book because it is nothing like what you'd expect a book of this genre to be), Anne of Green Gables (one of my favorites as a young girl), Revolution by Jennifer Donnelly and I've heard good reviews about Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins. I do hope this helps. Happy reading. :)
DeleteLOVE the juxtaposition of the feminine with the masculine!
