This & That: No. 13
Fantastic websites for those of you who love to live in the past or the present, summer fashions, a book to travel with and a few other fun ideas . . .
Created by two bloggers who dared to create the life they dreamed of, Alaina and Danielle have created a website that is full of thought-provoking articles, topics that cover relationships, budgeting, fashion and handbooks on kitchen organization and supplies, DIY projects and getting your finances in order. Without more explanation of my descriptions, have a look at their manifesto, as I think it says it all quite well:
“Whether she is searching for her dream job or a new city to call home;
is saving up for a down payment or a trip to Europe;
is learning to cook or speak another language, she wants a little guidance. She wants to be inspired. She is The Everygirl.”
~Cubes Perpetual Calendar from MoMa - $15
Found while visiting Franki Durbin’s blog Life in a Venti Cup, this unique desktop calender is expensive and conversation-sparking all on its own.
~Clare Vivier clutches
Clutches are my handbag of choice especially for evenings, but even for daytime if I’m not headed to work and need endless amounts of space. The over-sized foldover clutches from Clare Vivier come in a variety of solid colors as well as prints and range in price from $120-$158. An investment that will last as they are quite versatile.
~Splendid strapless maxi dress - $84
Summer is now officially here, and I know many of you are looking forward to exquisite vacations. An item I have just added to my travel wardrobe is the maxi dress. Splendid’s summer sale has just begun, and their cotton-blend maxi dresses that are regularly $118 have just been marked down to $84. I couldn’t help myself and purchased the daffodil version as it just makes me happy to wear such a brilliant summer color. Cinch your waist with a large belt, wear either chandelier earrings or a beautiful bead necklace and bangles and you will greet your vacation in style and comfort.
~Beautiful Ruins by Jess Walter
During the summer I tend to have more free time to read books for pleasure, and when I heard the review of Jess Walter’s recent book Beautiful Ruins (released June 12th), I quickly placed it on my wishlist. For those of you who live in the Pacific Northwest, you may recognize his name as he resides in Spokane, Washington, and even better, he will be reading excerpts from his book this Wednesday in Portland, Oregon, at Powell’s Bookstore on Burnside at 7pm. So if you’re in the Rose City this week, be sure to pop in if you’re interested.
~We Heart Vintage
If you are a lover of all things vintage and have a nostalgic passion for the past, be sure to visit the We Heart Vintage blog where you will find images from the 1920s through the 1970s – models, fashions, jewelry, music, movies and more.
