Perhaps a gift for you or a belated holiday gift for that someone you know who loves the two top fashion capitols in the world, Vahram Muratyan’s book Paris Versus New York: A Tally of Two Cities is full of side by side illustrated comparisons of New York City and Paris. Having had the chance to flip through this book while in Paris in Shakespeare & Co. bookstore this summer, I couldn’t help but smile and nod in agreement with the distinct culture depictions of each metropolis (view a few samples below).
PARIS VERSUS NEW YORK: A TALLY OF TWO CITIES by Vahram Muratyan, a gorgeous and witty homage to two of the world’s most iconic cities, was an instant must-have for culture vultures, graphic artists, Francophiles, style mavens, design hounds, jet-setters, and New Yorkers upon its publication earlier this year. The book was inspired by Vahram Muratyan’s blog Paris versus New York, A Tally of Two Cities which featured charming and colorful prints comparing the two metropolises and cultivated a devoted international following. His prints were on display at the popular Paris shop Collette (a favorite of the fashionable crowd) throughout the month of September 2011, a display which T Magazine described as “the pitting of macarons against cupcakes and the dueling hairdos of Sonia Rykiel and Anna Wintour,” and later at The Shop at the Standard in February 2012.
