The weekend has arrived and a chill has set in, but oh, how I’m enjoying wearing sweaters, boots and so soft scarves. Aren’t you? Last week, my attempt to pick up pumpkins was delayed, but this weekend is the grand opening of my favorite destination, so I am patiently waiting to see the treasures that will be available.

This week on the blog readers made Monday’s inspirational post their favorite which prompted this week’s discussion question on Facebook. Also, Joie is offering 20% off as well with promo code JOIEFRIENDS, and it is their silk blouses that always catch my eye. Both sales end October 7th. This sweater, this blouse and this oversized item caught my attention.

Have a lovely weekend, and until Monday, bonjour.

The Weekend . . .

An ideal weekend is about to begin, and two ingredients that I love to indulge in during my days off are shown above – reading and nibbling on buttery croissants. With the weather of September bringing near perfect temperatures dusted with a few magnificent rain and thunder shows, and having the opportunity to watch all of the new fashions from New York via live streaming, I am feeling rather spoiled.

The past week on the blog began with newsletter subscribers receiving the annual Fall Shopping Guide (find the link below), as well as a post that walked readers through how to make the blog work best for their specific preferences and interests.  Along with these extra posts were the weekly regular dailies . . . have a look.

The Weekend . . .

As I write today’s post, the rain is finally falling after more than a month without one of my favorite type of weather forecasts. There is something so very calming and restorative about the rain especially after days of long hot, sweltering summer temperatures. And as I enjoy this temporal pleasure, I am still in shock that August has arrived. July seems to have whisked by albeit offering many wonderful lessons and memories.

I hope the new month has begun with wonderful hopes and a few more leisurely days ahead. I’m excited to share a new addition to the blog this week that I’ve been contemplating and then working on for a while (unknowingly since the founding of the blog), but in reality a few months. If you look just below the header at the list of pages, you’ll find a new page has been added – French-Inspired Living. Be sure to read this week’s post (click here) which shares how this new page came about – one that will hopefully be a rich resource and make easily accessible information for all of you who are inspired to incorporate a touch of French-living into your everyday life. (Speaking of French-Inspiration, the Haven in Paris vacation rental offer is still available through August 4th, so be sure to take advantage if you’re planning on traveling to Paris or London soon – click here to learn more.)

And because I’m always looking for scrumptious recipes that are as delicious as they are simple, I’ve discovered a dessert that will not disappoint and is sure to impress. Have a look at Simple & a Dream – Dark Chocolate Mousse.

So many other ideas (care to Rent the Runway? – discover my first-hand experience with the online designer rental company here) were shared on the blog this week. Do have a look . . .

The Weekend . . .

The weekend, an extra long weekend for some, has indeed arrived. With festive celebrations in America and hopefully a respite from the extreme heat felt earlier in the week, this first weekend in July is a reminder that most certainly summer is upon us.

I escaped to the country this past week to beat the heat and have thoroughly been enjoying working at local coffee shops, running into friends I first met years ago and having the time to just read until the book was done (loved and highly recommend this book by the way).

Next week, I will be traveling again, so stay tuned to see where The Simply Luxurious Life will be venturing to.

In the meantime, Paris’ Fall Couture fashion week just wrapped up and all of the highlights are below, as well as an article that I found refreshing to read and the readers’ favorite post. A round up of those and all the posts from this past week on the blog . . .

The Weekend . . .

With travel dreams on my mind, I’ll be sitting down to do some itinerary planning this weekend. And with June in full bloom, summer’s warmth and the temptation of seeking out new and inspiring places is forefront in my mind.

This past week on the blog has included a post I have been waiting to share on just that topic – travel – and I was excited to hear readers’ comments about their own experiences of choosing to travel solo. Whether you’ve tried it or not, I’m curious to hear your thoughts after reading the post.

The Weekend . . .

The arrival of pink peonies is a wonderful reminder that spring has arrived and is in full bloom. With the beautiful weather this weekend you will find me in my yard and at the local nursery puttering about, dreaming up ways to add color and flavor (the addition of season herbs to my herb garden is a simple way to save money and add flavor to meals) to my home.

I must admit that May is one of my most favorite months of the year as the weather is perfectly warm without being terribly hot or frigid, and so much seems to be bursting with potential and possibility.

Being inspired by the spring season this week, the Style Inspiration and Why Not . . .? post both include spring as a theme – whether it’s the colors worn in one’s wardrobe or finding reasons to shop at the local farmers’ market. Here is a look back on the past week on the blog:

February begins today, and with it so many wonderful possibilities . . . spring arriving soon, an extra reason to say “I love you” and well . . . who knows what wonderful, lovely dreams could come true.

Needless to say, I am thrilled for my favorite month to arrive. Short and compact, but at the same time efficient and just enough time, but not too much.

This weekend will be spent at home, and I must say, I treasure such weekends. Time to catch up on whatever needs my attention, time to forget about a schedule and do as I feel. I hope you have a weekend in which you can let your hair down and just do whatever tickles your fancy as well.

This past week on the blog included a post to help you sort out what you should be weary of and what you should ignore when it comes to doubts and fears. Also, a bit of business that we all have to tend to was addressed – taxes – tips on how to simplify the process. Also, a few book recommendations I highly recommend. Have a look:

The Weekend . . .

Well, after six years of living in my house, I am finally giving my kitchen the facelift I have been so very eager to gift it with. Beginning this weekend, a bit of small paint jobs will be completed and in the weeks to come my talented paint crew (thanks mom!) will join me. After which the fun of organizing new dishes, wall decor and window treatments will wrap up the project that I look forward to sharing with you all.

In a small, yet very poignant way, this particular project is a reminder to me that during years when it doesn’t seem like things will ever improve or change, so long as you keep putting your head down and doing the necessary work, eventually, during those common hours (as Thoreau reminds us) wonderful things can transpire. Your life can change in amazing ways that you never thought possible. I honestly believe, so long as you never give up on yourself and your dreams, life has a funny way of providing you with the answers you’ve been hoping for.

And on that note, the most popular post of the week along with everything else shared on the blog these past first few days of January and last few days of December.

The Weekend . . .

Well, unfortunately after more than two and a half years, the newsletter hit a glitch for the first time. As you might imagine, I am beyond frustrated as you will not find the new issue #128 this Friday. While everything was ready to go, somewhere along the line “poof!” it disappeared. Needless to say, it’s humbling. However, the good news is you will be receiving a double issue next Friday.

This week on the blog brought about the spotlight of a winery I am very excited to share with you. Don Carlo Vineyards located in nearby Milton-Freewater and with a tasting room that will be buzzing this weekend during Walla Walla Holiday Barrel tasting, graciously allowed me to stop by their vineyard last weekend and get to know more about their story and wonderful wines. I can’t thank Lori and Tim Kennedy enough for this opportunity to introduce them to my readers.

Along with a post focused on affordable, quality wines, you will also find in this past week’s list of posts a bit of prep for 2013, motivation to keep striving for your goal and of course a bit of style inspiration. Have a look.

The Weekend . . .

Very much like a child anticipating the arrival of Santa, for the past few months I have been gradually prepping my wardrobe, brushing up on my French and scouring everywhere for ideas of what to do during my trip abroad to London and Paris as a way to pacify myself until my plane departs. The time has finally arrived to pack my bags and venture to London for a week of Olympic adventure, splashing in London rain with my Wellies and enjoying the leisure of a vacation schedule.

I want to thank so many of you who have emailed me with ideas for places to visit, enjoy and indulge in. From pubs to pop into, vintage shops to peruse in, and decadent sweet boutiques to satisfy my sugar tooth, I can’t thank you all enough. Your emails were so very kind and a wonderful surprise. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Needless to say, I am a bit giddy – a combination of slight nerves, but more excitement and child-like enthusiasm.

Rest assured, you can expect the regular scheduling of posts to continue here on the blog. In our society, we are given so much comfort that in order to extend past it, it feels as though we are giving up a tremendous amount. However, in actuality, a life of only dreaming and not actually attempting to attain our dreams is one of the most uncomfortable lives to live. Something to ponder over this gorgeous summer weekend.

Whether you are enjoying the calming effects of water inside or out, the weekend has arrived and hopefully you are getting ready to enjoy it in such a fashion that is pleasing to your wants and your needs.
