The Weekend . . .

~click here for the recipe to make this chocolate and nutmeg tart with hazelnut crust.~

With Friday evening plans of relaxing with good company, a savory meal and a glass of wine, followed by perhaps an opportunity to catch up on a few favorite shows, the weekend then becomes a time to celebrate as my mother’s birthday offers the opportunity to escape to the country.

And while most of the weekend will be play, my stylist hat will be worn for a few hours while I put the finishing touches on a fellow teacher’s fall capsule wardrobe.

Speaking of style, one of my favorite fall wardrobe additions was DVF’s leopard bark silk blouse, and now it is available at a reduced price with the promo code EXTRA15 along with everything found in Diane von Furstenberg’s online store (through October 14th). Tibi as well is offering 25% off full priced items through October 13th with promo code FAMILY25. These are a few of the items that caught my eye – shoes, sweater, and a dress or two.

But before all the goodness of the weekend begins, a look back on the past week on the blog . . .

The Weekend . . .

Let the painting begin! During the past few days, glassware and dishware have been arriving, and I have felt like a child before Christmas, anxiously wanting to place it on the shelves in the kitchen, yet patiently waiting. After checking to make sure nothing was broken (and admittedly just wanting to drool), I placed everything back in its respective boxes where it will remain until we finish painting the kitchen this weekend.

While window treatments will be a few weeks behind, I am giddy to see freshly painted walls and new dishes on the shelves come Sunday. You can be sure, I will be taking pictures of it all (a few peeks will be shared on Instagram this weekend – feel free to look here). Much like the images above, I will be attempting to open up my cabinets and accessorize with white and clear glass (have a look here to see a few of the items as they arrived). Needless to say, I’m ready to get started!

But enough about painting. I am happy to extend to a lucky reader a beautiful silver link necklace (29”) from Julie Vos. It is a wonderful piece to wear to work or in the evening with blouses or a dress – classically simple, yet statement making. Be sure to enter by this coming Monday (learn how to enter here).
