“Autumn is the mellower season, and what we lose in flowers we more than gain in fruits.”
-Samuel Butler

Not only is the temperature more to my liking, but fall offers the opportunity to put to good use the wisdom gained from the summer and previous months of the year. The busier schedule balanced by the calm, temperate weather seems to produce a tranquil assurance as well. The earlier sunsets signal the need to get some much needed rest and the brilliant beauty of the fields, trees and fruits letting the world know they are ready to be enjoyed by our eyes and our taste buds.

As fall officially began yesterday, I’d thought I’d share a few of the things I look forward to as autumn begins. And while it’s easy to continue as if nothing has changed, by being conscious of Mother Nature’s cycle it can wake us up to appreciate what each season has to offer and be sure to make the most of all its bounty while it’s upon us.

1. Layers upon Layers (sweaters, scarves, jackets and hats)

2. Apple Pie

3. Pumpkin Hunting

4. Mother Nature’s Golden Accessorizing

“How beautifully leaves grow old. How full of light and color are their last days.”
-John Burroughs

5. The First Fire in the Fireplace

6. Crisp Mornings and Chilly Evenings

7. Hot Chocolate and Pumpkin Chip Cookies

8. Pulling on the Boots

9. Fall Premieres (television, movies, plays)

10. Bonfires with family and friends

Now, please do share. What do you enjoy most about fall’s arrival? Feel free to share below in the comments or on Facebook.

  1. What I love about autumn is riding – the roads are grey, the sky is grey and in between is a firework display of green, gold, orange, red and brown. Smoke rises invisible against the sky, carrying tales of bonfires (acrid, musty) or wood-fires burning (cosy, warm).

  2. All of the above, plus pajamas, novels that take a bit more thought than “beach reads,” and experimenting with soups and stews: anything that simmers all day and nourishes all evening. Oh! And red wine. I officially change from white wine to red on October 1. Counting the days…

  3. I am absolutely in love with the colors of fall. I also love fall clothes. Sweaters, scarves, boots. My favorite clothes are fall clothes. I have to say that I do really love Starbucks fall menu too, especially the pumpkin cream cheese muffins. I haven’t gotten the chance to try their chocolate chai latte yet but I’m dying to.
