The fall season is upon us, and whether you are racing into the new season with eagerness or dragging your feet, the best way to greet a new season, in many ways an opportunity for a fresh start is with confidence in your wardrobe.

Over the past month I have picked up a few items I have needed to complete or fill in gaps in my own capsule wardrobe for the fall season. From a short trench jacket from Ralph Lauren that went on sale 30% to everyday black pumps from Charles David, my shopping list has not been that extensive, but the gaps have been filled nicely.

The benefit of adhering to a capsule wardrobe is that you don’t have to break the bank to buy what you need and love. And in fact, you can save money on quality items. Especially this year, the sales are impressive over the Labor Day weekend. If you know what you want, be sure to save with Shoptagr so you can be alerted to sales and use Honey as well, so that when you do find what you want, you can utilize any promo code that is available and save yourself money.

Below you will find eleven trends of the fall season that were quite prevalent on the runways. Included with each trend are images from the runways of Paris, Milan, NYC and London, followed by a handful of items ready to be shopped.

At the end of the post you will find three shopping “gatherings” of clothes, coats, shoes and accessories. I do hope you enjoy perusing the options, and be sure to save even more money by utilizing the tools shared above.

Current Sales of Note:

  • Ralph Lauren 30% off EVERYTHING through September 2nd with promo code LABORDAY
  • Banana Republic — Save 40% off + 10% additionally, no code necessary
  • Mango — Save 30% off purchases of $100 or more and 20% off purchases of $49 with promo code LBR19
  • Mark & Graham, save an additional 30% off sale items with promo code LABORDAY
  • Ann Taylor — use promo code LASTHURRAH to save 40% off full priced items + an additional 10% off
  • Talbots — save 25% off full priced items

Happy shopping and wishing you a beautiful fall season.

Time to Shop! For each item in the photo collage, I have provided the shopping link and matching image below. My apologies for the the previous hovering not working. While I am not sure why (we are still looking into it), all items should be available now just below their initial collage. Click through to shop.

For any readers who live in warmer climates or will be traveling away this fall and winter to some place warm, I highly recommend checking out Danielle Fichera’s bespoke and Resort 2020 collection.

Below is her Amara dress, and having had the experience of wearing the dress on the left, I cannot express more fully how much I am delighted with the fit and especially the fabric. Danielle Fichera’s designs are made with sustainable cotton fabric sourced from Italy and each design is made in New York. The collections are limited, and their designs, as you can see in this picture that shares a close up of the fabric, are made with fit coupe fabric which means the fabric incorporates small woven-in (or jacquard) patterns in which the threads are cut on the backside of the fabric. The texture of the fabric is soft and luscious with the luxurious addition of an embroidered touch. Most definitely, a designer to watch as she continues to rise.

  3. So glad to see that the logo trend has left! The big belt trend is very reminiscent of the ’80s, so I wouldn’t count on that lasting too long either. The coats though, oh be still my heart! I’m such a sucker for plaid, tweed, and houndstooth. Anything that makes me look like I just came back from riding my horse in the English countryside on a crisp fall day calls to my heart and wallet.
