A Vacation Escape to Cornwall by the Sea

Oct 31, 2019

Traveling is all the more enticing when the accommodations practically all but require you to slow down, relax, and just be as the cozy furniture, deep soaking tub, stunning views suggest that staying put is a very fine idea indeed.

As I shared yesterday, I recently learned of a luxurious vacation rental company in the UK, Unique Home Stays, and immediately bookmarked it.

Offering luxurious, unique and beckoning sanctuaries of all sizes and for a variety of purposes, their home offerings epitomize simply luxurious travel accommodations. Organized into categories – dog-friendly, luxurious solo retreats, baby-friendly, festive retreats, couple retreats, eco-friendly, luxury homes with pools and many more, you are sure to find a size, location and decor that speaks to your tastes and budget.

While there are many homes that caught my eye, those by the water soared to the top of my list. Spotted in today’s Decor Inspiration post is The Oyster Catcher located in Mousehole, Cornwall. Below I have shared a few of the details and rooms, as well as outdoor spaces that captured my attention, but be sure to click through to tour the entire rental and discover all of the amenities (some rentals include self-catering, spa treatments and other special services).

The deep seated armchair and sofa complete with a fireplace and high ceilings would entice me to stay inside and cozy up with a good book for days. A restful retreat indeed.

A soaking tub is a must on a getaway, and this clawfoot would fit perfectly.

  1. Shannon, I am swooning over these pics. I heard myself audibly sigh and knew instantly that this is my style. The tranquil inside with simplicity but interesting textures coupled with the natural beauty in the garden exterior spaces. I am in love. Thank you for sharing. What a delightful treat for me on this Halloween. -PennyRae

  2. This brings back fond memories of my childhood, spending the summers with my grandparents who lived in Bude. The funny little seaside villages – Mousehole (pronounced Mow-zal) was a favorite. The lush gardens at the great houses (which often had quirky fairy-like spaces within them, similar to those shown above). Swimming in the large man-made tide pool, even when it rained. Tangy air and crafty seagulls. Flying kites on the cliffs. Big mugs of milky tea to warm you up after, and a slice of coffee-flavored sandwich cake (about the only kind my grandma could make – terrible cook!). Magical. Thanks.

      1. We spent a week in Cornwall last summer ( my two sisters, one husband and seven teenagers and I ) and it was a magical time. Tintagel, St ives, Mousehole, the Scilly isles, cream Tea’s, pasties and fish and chips, surf lessons and horseback riding. And the whole time, enjoying the natural beauty, the seaside and lovely people. I’d go back in a heartbeat. You would love it.
