The shoe of summer. Whether you are traveling to the south of France, the coast of Italy or enjoying the sunshine in Spain, or staying put exactly where you are, espadrilles are a classic shoe to go-to each summer.
They key is to find a style that works for your life, a color and texture that coordinates well with your spring/summer capsule and invest in the best quality you can afford. The good news is, the majority of these shoes are very reasonable.
Today I’d like to share with you a few brands that specialize in espadrilles, the various styles that are available and then at the end of the post you can shop even more espadrilles from a variety of designers.
The sole is predominantly the “tell” of an espadrille as it will be made of rope sole, called esparto. The upper part of the shoe can be found to be made of canvas or leather most commonly.
The heel height can be flat, stacked or a wedge with an ankle wrap. The sandal can completely enclose the foot or have an open-toe, an open back or even be in the style of a sneaker as Soludos makes available below.
With a variety of color options, choose one that will work best with the outfits you enjoy most wearing during the warmest months of the year. While I do love a little height without having to wear heels, the wedge espadrille is a must in my closet, but having a pair of flats as well for more casual and travel occasions is a good idea as well.
Soludos is a company which was founded in 2010 and is based in New York. The shoes and bags are affordable and well made. Below is a sample of the different espadrille designs available, but there are many, many more. Be sure to shop the entire collection here.
