J’Adore New York – Book Review

Sep 15, 2011

New York City by way of Paris, designer sample sales, a determined female protagonist and romance – certainly a pleasurable book to read indeed. Isabelle Laflèche’s debut novel J’Adore New York has just been released in the United States after having great success in Canada and having had the opportunity to read it last year, I highly recommend it (I was not given a copy to review).

With challenging colleagues in a new prestigious law firm after transferring from Paris to New York, Catherine Lambert is driven and determined to be successful and stylish all at the same time; however, balancing her professional life as well as her personal life proves to be a bigger challenge than she had originally anticipated.

Love and infatuation quickly enter into her life as she soaks up the rapid opportunities and tries to keep up with the frenzying pace of Manhattan. Before she knows it she is making trips to the Hamptons with a dashing gentlemen she meets through her place of work which wrecks even more havoc on an already stressful social network with the secretaries and bosses.

Needless to say, J’Adore New York is a delight to read as Laflèche takes her readers on an intriguing journey using her own experience as a former corporate attorney who used to work on Wall Street as well as incorporating accurately her love for style and fashion that Manhattan is famous for.

Perfect for: weekend reading, a way to let go of the day, vacation, time at the beach, allowing yourself to relax,
