—An English Murder by Cyril Hare
Perhaps a murder mystery is not what you would think of during the holidays, but Cyril Hare’s An English Murder is set just before the end of the year in the wintery English countryside. A cozy mystery in which a “party find themselves snowed-in on Christmas Eve with a murderer among them”.

One item I try to always have on hand in my office is personal stationery for everyday notes I want to send out for thank you, thinking of yous, etc. And the company I have been purchasing my cards from for the past two years is Earth, Sky + Water. With the holiday season a time to send out cards, I love their simple, yet Mother Nature themed cards, and will purchasing a few boxed sets as shipping is not free through December 14th. Use promo code HFShip19 (the lower 48 states only) and enjoy these beautiful, simple, nature-inspired illustrations.
A new holiday album of new and favorite holiday classics, John Legend even updated the lyrics of the classic “Baby, It’s Cold Outside” with duet partner Kelly Clarkson. I personally appreciate it, and the song still lifts the spirit and includes the classic melody we all love. Have a listen below.

I shared last Saturday that I had my eye on a string of shell lights available at Nantucket Looms, but unfortunately waited too long to purchase them; however, the good news is Nantucket Looms is having a site-wide sale, and this classic boatneck sweater is reduced by 20%.

The day after Thanksgiving and whoosh . . . we are into the holiday hustle and bustle and snow! Yep, the day after I left Bend, the snow came and kept falling. Evidentially, we set more records (this is beginning to be a frequent occurrence – remember last February?), but I know Oregon was not the only state hit by harsh weather this week, and I do hope that everyone and those you love are safe and warm after a week of travel for many.
I am thankful to have spent some time in Wallowa County where the snow also fell and provided a beautiful holiday week with family. And I am equally excited to return home to begin shoveling snow off the sidewalk in front of my house and contribute to the neighborhood (I find such times a wonderful opportunity to meet neighbors). But then promptly snuggling inside next to the fire. 😉
Today’s This & That is bursting and full of articles to read, sales to shop and items to enjoy. Thank you for stopping by and until Monday, bonne journée!
