~Spicy Gingerbread Cheesecake – view recipe here~
The annual hunt for the perfect tree commences this weekend. With my mom, niece and nephew, as well as my dogs, we will be making a day of one of my favorite traditions. And the event wouldn’t be complete without a cup of hot chocolate (a delicious recipe to try as shared on the blog this week) and most certainly turning up the holiday tunes in the car along the way (my go-to playlist). Okay, yes, I’m cheesy or parmesany – you get the idea – but Saturday will find me putting up the tree, writing my holiday cards on my go-to choice of stationery for the occasion and just enjoying the season. These simple traditions are what I look forward to most, and if it were by chance it were to snow, that would just be icing on the cake (come on Mother Nature, help me out here).
Wherever your weekend takes you in the next few days, I hope you are enjoying the season in your own way. Perhaps you are gearing up for a holiday soiree on Saturday, looking forward to finishing your Santa shopping list, or simply catching your breath after a busy week. While there were a handful of festive posts this week on the blog, readers chose Monday’s 7 Myths About Success as their favorite post with this post a close second serving as a reminder that sometimes what’s most appreciated during these annual festivities is a regular routine.
And while I was enjoying some time this week to leisurely peruse through my favorite reading lists and blogs, I found a few articles and a video I wanted to share. Have a look:
~A Francophile Holiday Gift Guide and Giveaway from the Paris Print Shop . . . enter by Friday, but if you miss the deadline, you’ll still want to check out this lovely gift guide.
~4 Retirement Mistakes 30-Something Makes and How to Avoid Them in 2014 . . . an important part of financial security no matter what one’s life status. Are you doing all that you can? Forbes offers some worthwhile advice.
~Why We Love Carrie Bradshaw . . . an article for you SATC fans from a millennial who points out some spot-on insights.
And lastly, but worth a watch – A recent study revealed that there may still be a bias regarding women in the workplace and both men and women are guilty of perpetuating it. In a recent Pantene ad a similar issue is addressed regarding the labels given to men and women for parallel behavior. Have a look. I’d love to hear your thoughts, and if nothing else, as women hopefully we will all be encouraged to support each other without destructive criticism and judgment. “It is a fact that in the right formation, the lifting power of many wings can achieve twice the distance of any bird flying alone.”
And speaking of a woman refusing to let society label her, Beyonce just dropped a surprise album last night – self titled Beyoncé – and available only as an album (no single songs available) through iTunes. Click here to have a look.
Have a wonderful weekend everyone! And until Monday, bonjour!
