Stepping into the kitchen and making a meal or a treat is one of my favorite things to do. It calms me down at the end of the day, provides a since of productivity on a leisurely weekend and is an opportunity to bring people together. Throughout the year, whenever the mood strikes and I have extra time, I’ve shared a recipe from TSLL kitchen and below are five of the readers’ favorites from 2013.

Today, I’m also debuting one of the most recent illustrations commissioned for the blog from Inslee Haynes. Don’t you just love her? Inslee continues to amaze me. Now I might attempt to look like this on the night of a dinner party as I’m finishing up appetizers (all the while praying nothing drips, drops or stains), but in all other instances, I can only dream of looking so chic in the kitchen.

If you’re looking for all of the simply luxurious recipes, have a look at the recipe archives and the premise behind all of the recipes I share on the blog.

  1. Gorgeous sketch! I actually women who can cook up a storm and still come out of the kitchen looking like they’d prepared nothing more arduous than a boiled egg. LOL!

The hot choc with a raspberry crumble bar would be my choice.
